Daniel - 4 Weeks

Daniel at 4 weeks is part colic part calmest baby in the world. I don't know how to identify him because he's not a difficult baby. I can almost always get him to stop crying. But, he does cry. A lot. His poor little stomach is always tightening and I wish it wasn't so hard to burp or poop or pass gas or whatever it is he needs to do to feel better. No matter, he is my little cuddle buddy. His favorite position is to be vertically up on my shoulder or on my chest. He's a good nurser and is filling out rapidly. His longest stretch of sleep has been five and a half hours at night but I can't count on it. He sleeps best in his car seat and if I need a shower he'll do fine in his swing for about an hour. He doesn't last very long in his crib on his back or on his stomach. Last night, I slept in the recliner with him until 3:30 am because he wouldn't stay asleep. He's starting to focus on our faces more and cross his eyes less. Still waiting for his first genuine smile but he gives us lots of glimpses of what's to come. I originally thought it'd be fun to take a photo of him in the same position every week to have a better idea of how he's changing but I don't like how these pictures are turning out. So, I may keep trying but I mostly just want to capture him at cute moments. I don't think it'll be a problem.

Taken with my new iphone's instagram app. I love it. And I love babies in sleep gowns!

oooooooh. He is ADORABLE! And I, too, love babies in newborn gowns. Only, I had to call them "night shirts" or Kendell would freak out. Men.

anyway. Sending you wishes for sleep-filled nights!

He's adorable and definitely filling out. I love newborn gowns and am so sad when they get too long to wear them.

Daniel is such a sweetie. How blessed you must feel right now (although tired!)

Aw. I just love newborns! I'm sorry he's colicy...that's the worst. What a blessing that you can usually get his to calm down.

Sometimes my computer won't let me click on links from blogs. I have no idea why, but that's why this comment is late. And I really really hate it when people give me parenting advice but I just want to say that maybe he has reflux. Sara had spurts of non stop crying, especially in the night. She also spit up ALOT for 18 months. We started her on zantac and the crying stopped. She still spit up but at least it wasn't burning her. After that and after talking with my doctor we determined that Kate probably had it too even though she didn't spit up regulary. We started her on zantac and she started sleeping better. Still not fabulous, but way better. She's not taking it any longer though. Anyway, just a thought that maybe you could talk to your doctor about. My doctor is of the belief that a lot of colic is acid reflux.
