While my #14 seems rather benign at first sight, believe me, it's caused all sorts of havoc in my heart this week.
I took my pictures on Tuesday - on time- peeling off the outermost layer of my less-than-organized onion...my home.
Home organization is clearly something that I struggle with. I'm not a dirty person, just cluttered and ineffective. That's when the lightbulb went on and I realized my ineptitude concerning organization isn't confined to the boundaries of my closets, garage and refrigerator. I am HORRIBLE at life organization.
I don't organize my time well.
I don't organize my children's time well.
I don't organize my priorities.
I don't organize my responsibilities.
I don't organize my relationships.
My entire life is haphazardly arranged.
Suddenly, this tame SPT had me reeling with feelings of woulda-coulda-shoulda. After all, I am taught that my house (insert life) should be a house of order. So I really, really tried this week.
I attempted to revamp the chore chart. Marginal success. Why is it so hard to teach my children to work?
I attempted to re-prioritize exercise each day. Why do I lose my mojo at the start of each season? The mornings get soooo cold!
I attempted to have a healthy balanced meal for dinner each evening. So far, so good. But who am I kidding? Four nights in a row is about my limit.
I attempted to keep my house picked up, including laundry, beds made, bathrooms wiped, each and every day. I've done it. But today, I don't feel like it.
What I haven't done is spend very much time on the computer. Which is fine and lots of people would say is great, but it means I haven't blogged and I like blogging. It is one of my primary hobbies and we're supposed to have time for hobbies. Which means I'm not doing a very good job at being ORGANIZED!
I'm not giving up. I really don't want #14 to stay on my list anymore. It's not a part of my life I'm satisfied with. Someday, I hope to replace it with, "My life used to be unorganized." We'll see.

I see so many super-organized women out there (including my own sisters) and often get incredibly discouraged. Because it's just not my thing. And honestly doesn't bother me the way it bothers some humans. Still, I try. And I'm relieved to find someone on the same end of the issue as I am.
I relate. I was commiserating with an equally-disorganized friend just yesterday and she equated it to laziness. I REALLY don't like to think of myself as lazy but are they (disorganization and laziness)the same thing or at least very closely related? I hope not. A title of disorganized I can handle, lazy...no way!
The frig looks great. And I feel inspired to go tackle my coat closet...or my garage...or my car...or my laundry room...
...guess I'd better get off the computer.
I am going to cut and paste this post to MY blog because it is so like me too!!! (I would have to leave out the part where you organized the fridge though...) John and I have had several discussions about this lately (he is very organized) and I too need to revamp lots of things (I always use the "When I am done with this, we will get better)! I don't feel like we are out of control, just inefficient... let me know how it goes! :) It is certainly a worthy effort and as soon as I am done blogging I will work on it more too....
yup. this entire post spoke to me, too! i've been trying very hard to get myself organized this week, especially at work. hopefully my house will follow...
I too can could have written this exact post. I hate feeling disorganized. To me, it comes down to priorities. When cleaning is preempted by family/friend time I'm totally fine with that. It's when my obsession with the TV comes in to play that I feel pretty ridiculous.
I have said this a million times, but being organized isn't always the best quality in life to have, sure it's helpful, but look at all the wonderful things you do with your kids that some people lack (eh um like me)
4 is about my max on home cooked meals for the week as well. I consider that to be a lot in our house (double pats on the back :)
Have these comments turned into a confessional? I struggle with this to the same degree- and on Thursday I cleaned my fridge for the exact same reasons you did...sigh.
Right now the kids are at Grandma's house and I could be folding my floor pile of laundry, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, dish washing...but I am here. Catching up and loading pictures and then I want to go hunker down and read. Kid free cleaning would be so fast but kid free internet time is apparently more important to me. Good luck with your quest!
It's funny I just cleaned my fridge last week.
I am not as organized as I want to be, but I am trying. I am making strides, but there are things like my closet or my kids paper trail that just get away from me.
I am JUST LIKE YOU....lol. I am a total organizational wannabe.
do you feel like once one project is completed, 10 more still wait?
sigh. never ending i am afraid!
