Wha???? Suddenly, a seven year-old is going to be around all day needing activities and entertainment? Isn't there supposed to be some sort of huge relief when a break comes? Like, "No more schedules, no more routines...just lakes and sun and parks and play!" But, in case you haven't noticed, it's turned a bit nippy outside. No swimming and water parks for us. There are some corn mazes. That might last all of two times.
To cope, I am thinking about a road trip. I have some doctor appointments next week for Seth and Sam. Henry had his this morning, had four shots and had an ear infection that I had no idea about! He hasn't even been cranky. And sleep...well...he's never been that good. Oh, and this doctor and I are like bizarro twins. He had a baby four months ago and named him Henry. Said Sam was their #2 name. Then, he asked me what my girl name was and when I told him Clara, he said, "We have a Clara!" Crazy.
Anyhoo....we'll stick around for the doctor and conference and then I think we'll head north. I still need to hammer out the details, but there is no way I can stay sane and stay here at the same time. Even if seven of the 11 or 12 days are in the car...it's still better than remaining here and staring at each other, wondering what to do each day.
Here's to my sanity. Here's to an odd and misplaced vacation time. Here's to year-round school!

Well I'm very excited that you're about to head north and stay with us for a few days. I cannot wait...and the boys will be excited to see their cousins. I hope Henry feels better. Poor guy. Have a great weekend:)

I am longing for a vacation myself. As much as I wanted my kids in school I think a week break sounds so nice. Those 6am's are taking a toll on me AND the kids for that matter. What ever you decide have fun!!

Sounds like a fun trip and treat to see old friends. Plus cold weather? Is that possible in October? I've never known such a luxury.

I wish I were on A track. We're on D this year and with A last year, it made for a long summer. I'm not crazy about year-round school, but I don't know that I want long summers either. You just can't win. Enjoy being off track!

Oh, my children had the day off, and I was reminded at just how much I enjoy being a stay at home mom with my children away from home. It has been a bit messier, louder, more contentious, and I am looking a bit more frazzled. Luckily, we all got to dancing to my new Three Stooges album and all were redeemed in my eyes and my natural affections were restored. I hope the same works for you, if you need help I reccomend the alphabet song on the stooges childrens album! I am sure you can get it for your car! Enjoy your trip!

You are a great mom to travel alone with you kids. We would be the one staring at each other in boredom.
I think fall vacations are wonderful, so you should count yourself lucky. Summer vacations are accompanied by the heat and by everyone else's vacations too, so going in the fall is a treat.
That's weird about your doctor's kids names matching yours. Is there a Clara in your future?

It would take me a while to wrap my brain around year round school. We have some friends who home school, and they always take their best vacations in the fall because everyone else is in school, and it's not crowded. Hope you have a fun journey away!
