A very quick read (I read it in less than an hour last night), this contains a personal narrative of the life of Jesus Christ given by Charles Dickens to his children. The language is informal and written so that his children could follow and understand.
While there is nothing contained within the pages that those familiar with the Bible haven't already heard, to read it so condensed, so casually and with such love is refreshing. This isn't a history lesson, nor is it a sermon. It is simply the testimony of an important author about the man he knew was his Lord.
You'll hear no complaints from me.

In December one of our RS teachers was talking about what a neat book it was and how Dickens had demanded that it not be published because it was his private feelings about the Lord. It was passed down through several generations...until it was finally published. I love that it never was intended to be published. So cool.
Very sweet. I don't think it stands up to your Book of Mormon testimony review but sounds cool anyway. I like what Kristin added about the story behind it.

In college and grad school, I wrote endless Dickens papers. I think I own everything he's written. Funny thing is, I haven't read him in so long - too taken up with modern things, I guess. I absolutely love this book and love the story behind it even more. I had heard the behind the scenes before and it really all the more endeared the book to me. How great was that for a father to do!
