The Power of the Mind

Some funny Samisms for you.

This afternoon, I hauled Sam and Henry around with me to a copy store, Jo-Ann's, grocery shopping and for a fountain soda. Sam has given up naps (sadly) but still gets tired around 3:00 in the afternoon. I had forgotten one piece of sheetmusic that I needed to drop off for my choir accompanist today so drove home quickly, and ran into the house without letting Sammy get out of his carseat. When I got back in the van, he was fake snoring with a little grin on his face. I whispered, "oh, I better be quiet. Sam is sleeping. He must be so tired. It's a good thing he is getting some rest" and so on. By the time I made it to the stop sign down the street he was really asleep! I chuckled at how his joke backfired. Unfortunately, it didn't last long as he woke up when I stopped the car to deliver the music.

Last week, he said the funniest thing that I can now share because it no longer horrifies me. Seth never had imaginary friends and I'm not convinced Sammy's are real (I think he's just being silly) but every once in a while he talks about imaginary people. Last week, he told me he had a secret. I asked him what it was and he told me it was about his imaginary mommy and his imaginary baby. I did the "Awwwww" in my mind until he proceeded to tell me that he was walking with his imaginary mommy and his imaginary baby and he saw a bunch of other imaginary mommies and imaginary babies and then they started to eat all of the babies. I didn't want to overreact so I just told him I didn't like his story - that it was gross and he started laughing. I'm pretty sure it's just very strange 3 year old imagination and that I don't have a psychopath on my hands. Let's hope so.

Lily fell asleep in the car at 4:30 this afternoon. As you know, we've given up the naps too and obviously she still needs it. I transferred her to her bed and she is still asleep. I think she's down for the night.

Gotta hate the giving up naps. We are going through phases with Luke on those.

I would have been a bit horrified to, but I am sure like you said it was just being silly. Taylor is the only one out of my kids who had an imaginary friend. She doesn't even remember "Zoe" I do because we had to set a place setting for her at the table! I don't think you will be having to worry about a psycho path--funny story though.

Sammy sounds like Tyler when he starts talking about cutting off his friends legs and then sewing on new ones for them. You have to love their creativity (I think)?
Maybe Sam will be the next Stephen King and He can call up Tyler for ideas. Hee Hee, kidding!

My friend's little boy use to tell the craziest stories (seriously weird stuff!) when he was young. He's now an amazing writer!
